How to Crop a Video Online — 3 Steps

Select an aspect ratio, upload your video, and download the result — cropped and re-encoded server-side with FFmpeg's crop filter.

  1. Upload your video

Select any MP4, WebM, MKV, MOV, AVI, FLV, or WMV file up to 100 MB. No account required — your file goes directly to the processor.

  2. Choose an aspect ratio

Pick the output shape: 1:1 square for Instagram, 9:16 vertical for TikTok and Reels, 16:9 widescreen for YouTube, or 21:9 cinematic for a film look. The tool center-crops automatically — no manual selection needed.

  3. Download your cropped video

Click Crop video and download the MP4 as soon as it is ready. The output is compatible with every platform, editor, and device.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does "center crop" mean?

Center crop means the tool removes equal amounts from each side (left and right, or top and bottom) so that the cropped region is centered in the original frame. For example, cropping a 16:9 widescreen video to 9:16 vertical removes roughly equal strips from the left and right sides, keeping the center of the frame. This works well for most footage where the subject is in the middle of the frame.

Can I choose which part of the frame to keep?

Currently, the tool crops from the center automatically. Custom offset crops (e.g., crop from the left side instead of center) require a desktop application such as FFmpeg CLI, DaVinci Resolve, or Adobe Premiere Pro, where you can specify exact pixel coordinates.

Will the output resolution be lower than the input?

Yes — cropping always reduces at least one dimension. For example, cropping a 1920×1080 (16:9) video to 9:16 produces a 607×1080 video. The pixel count is lower, but the frame covers the same number of original pixels in the kept region — there is no upscaling or quality degradation beyond normal H.264 re-encoding.

What if my video is already the target aspect ratio?

If the video is already the chosen ratio (e.g., you crop a 1:1 video to 1:1), the output dimensions will equal the input dimensions and no pixels are removed. The video is still re-encoded to MP4/H.264.

Is my video kept private?

Yes. Your uploaded video and the processed output are automatically deleted from our servers within 60 minutes. We never store, sell, or analyse your content.

Is this tool completely free?

Yes — no account, no watermarks, no subscription required. Upload, choose a ratio, and download.
